Can you bodyboard at the wave?
Unfortunately we are unable to offer bodyboarding at the present time. As we reopen following the coronavirus outbreak we will just be offering our core surf lessons and sessions for beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers.
Can you bodyboard without waves?
You may not need bodyboarding fins, but it certainly gives an advantage to catching the best waves just in time. While you can bodyboard without fins, it’s close to surfing without arms — essentially, when bodyboarding, you’re using your legs to propel yourself and catch waves.

How many paddles does it take to catch a wave?
Pick a wave, turn around and give a minimum of 8 strong paddle strokes. You want to be paddling strong enough to match the speed of the wave while it is transitioning from “Stage A” to “Stage B”.
What do you wear to the wave?
Please bring your own swimwear to wear underneath your wetsuit. We recommend that you wear swimwear that is not bulky and that does not have any large metal or plastic detailing as this may cause discomfort or injury. You should also bring a towel.
Are there showers at The Wave?
It is a very active and intense exercise experience and therefore people only notice the cold when they first get in the water. We also have hot showers for after your surf so don’t forget your towel!
How long is a session at the wave?
Our surf sessions last one hour, with 55 minutes in the lake. You need to be on site at least 60 minutes before your surf starts.
